Columbia River Fishing
The Columbia River is one of the great sport fishing rivers in the world. There is year around fishing on the Columbia and over 1000
miles of water. Between the mouth, where it meets the Pacific Ocean and Bonneville Dam you will find year around fishing. Salmon and Sturgeon annually offer anglers several opportunities for prime time fishing.
The Columbia River Sturgeon fishing starts the first of the year and continues right into a spring fishery. Sometime in May or June, many of the fish that were in the Portland area will migrate downstream to the estuary in the Astoria area. The start of summer signals the
begining of the Columbia River Trophy Sturgeon Fishing season. And finally a great little window of fishing exists in October and November when the deadline is moved to allow anglers to fish closer to Bonneville Dam.
Columbia River Salmon fishing starts in March with the arrival of the Columbia River Spring Salmon run. This run branches off into many of the tributaries below Bonneville Dam and concludes in those tributaries
in June. Summer Chinook begin entering the river in June and are around through July. August starts the Columbia River Fall Salmon run and this run, made up of Coho and Chinooks will last clear into November in some of the lower Columbia tributaries.
